Mains were the go last night at Twisted Fork.

The pork special was very tasty with an interesting blend of flavours including aniseed. The seafood plate special was intricately done with a good variety of top quality morsels. The rabbit pasta was outstanding - just enough sauce so that the flavour of the meat could be enjoyed properly, and thankfully my partner said no to the offer of parmesan; some pasta dishes just do not need it! The fourth in our group had the crab salad, which is offered as an entree. It did not upsize well to a main - but left plenty of room for dessert!

The peach crumble was amazing. The trifle was perfect. And two of us had the lime, vodka and marshmallow tart. After the waiter waxed on about how 'I only have homemade ice cream', it was a bit of a surprise to see commercially made marshmallows on top. Mmm.

I did not see the winelist last night as our host took care of that, but I do recall from previous visits that there is a good variety of wines in terms of origins and price at this restaurant. There is also a decent selection of wines by the glass, which is worth remembering. As is the $12 corkage per bottle – except for Fri and Sat nights when there is no BYO.

The restaurant itself has an atmosphere of sophistication. The tables are well presented with crisp linen, nice glassware and adequate crockery etc - the exception being the coffee cups. (Why nice restaurants persist with the coffee supplier's branded cups is a mystery to me.) The room is quite small and the tables are a tight fit. And it can be a little noisy - not helped by the style of music played last night. But overall it is a comfortable place for tables of 2 - 4 people. Tip: make sure you book ahead, especially for Fri and Sat nights.

Lastly, while our waiter's abruptness did not take away from our overall enjoyment of the night, it is worth a mention. Too much ‘tude devalues the food!

Booked at Twisted Fork for Valantines expecting the usual chaos and bad service associated with this day. We were blown away by the ambiance and romantic setting of this small restaurant. The service was perfect, the staff there on queue when needed without being over bearing. The Lamb brain and my partner’s liver was fantastic. The veal main was without equal in Perth and her lamb loin was beautiful. Overall the best dining experience I’ve had in a long time.

A friend and I had heard about a small resturaunt
in Mosman Park recently opened by a local couple, Paul & Jaycinta Zammit, so we decided to have a look...

Unfortunately , as we hadn't booked, there was no room for us!! But, thankfully jaycinta zammit came to our rescue and managed to fit us in for the next night.

Well worth the wait it was too, from the very first dish we knew we were in for a treat, from the oh so subtle steak tartare, to the out-of-left-field soft shelled crab, malaysian style.

The pork belly with super creamy mustard potato puree and jus was unbeleivable... So was the grilled chicken breast with a rustic crushed medley of white beans, shallots and leeks. All seasoned perfectly and well met with a drizzle of harrisa for a warm touch.

On to desserts!Being my favourite dish, I'll try not to sway you out there, but these handmade delights are top 5 stuff for perth! Their Chocolate Three Ways dessert is said to be enough for two people, but I couldn't share mine!!!

Luckily, the cheese after plate is a perfect balance to the sweets...A very nice brie, silky smooth (perfect, almost) Blue vein(from Tas.) Down south cheddar(great)
